What The Art?
There are so many fun art projects out there, and I wish we could do them all. Unfortunately living on a single income means we can’t always afford all the cool supplies I see advertised. There are some things I can make myself, like dough or moon sand. But there are still some things that you just can’t do without the real stuff.
Or so I thought.
Those ideas were blown out of the water. Apparently you can make art with anything you please. The Mona Lisa from toast, sure why not! How about some dryer lint sculpting? Even jelly beans can be a creative art source. Clearly I’ve been living under a rock. No wonder the blog is Homeschooler Savvy, you’ve got to be pretty darn savvy to find all of these things.
Of course, if you’re going to be doing art with jelly beans you might as well go all out. Grab the candy bucket and start doing some science experiments. Chemistry with candy will most certainly be a lesson the kids won’t forget.
Now I’m on a mission to find more weird and unusual art sources. What else can can I make from the stuff that I usually toss out? Most people know of the basics: building a city out of old boxes and cans, turning baby food jars into candle holders, and the such. But there have to be some more creative art pieces out there. And what a great lesson on reusing everything!
Like dryer lint. Dryer lint! Who knew?

You can make paper out of dryer lint, too. Just use the dryer lint as you’d use shredded newspaper in a more “traditional” paper making exercise. It makes colorful “designer” paper. Fun!

I have another post on Vik Muniz, who has painted using various mediums, including sugar, syrup and peanut butter and jelly. Blows the whole art material thing out of the water doesn’t it!
