One more piece of my Introduction

by

Since I got carried away a little in the first post, I thought I’d give you a brief over view of what I hope to accomplish on this site.  As I mentioned before, the previous writer focused solely on homeschooling for the most part.  I would like to discuss that, don’t get me wrong, I plan to take part in homeschooling to some degree.

However, what I would like to focus on is:

Parents as Educators - first and foremost a parent has to be willing to teach their own child many many things in life

Public School Teachers as Educators - let’s face it, we will always encounter people who have been educated in the public schools, we need to know that they are making the grade so to speak

Media as Educators - this became so apparent last night as my 5-year-old explained to me how a washboard worked.  When I asked how he knew, he replied, "I saw it on "How it Works""

Daycare and Pre-School Teachers as Educators - in this category I include many people who teach our children daily without an ounce of training.  I owned a daycare, trust me it happens every day and basically every where.

Other Authority Figures as Educators- by this I mean the Head of our Churches, and other authority figures such as policemen, etc

Other Children as Educators - it happens, don’t think for one minute that you are immune to such.  It really does happen everyday.

So, if you fit into any of these groups, you will fit in nicely  here.  I do want to keep it open to simply educating our children, no matter how it is done.
