My 40th Birthday

by

Today, today is the big day.  I am 40 today.  I’ve always wondered what this monumental birthday would bring.  I think I’ve put more thought into this birthday than being 18, 21, 29, or 35.  Those were the other birthdays that i did think about some, but this birthday, this birthday is super special for several reasons.

Today, at 40, I’m writing 8 blogs, something I absolutely love doing.  I’ve had a book self-published and I’m working on one for possibly 3 to 5 years from now.

Today, September 3, 2008, I am:

  • A Parent (something I’ve dreamed about since I was small)
  • A Wife (something I’ve tried to be many times and failed)
  • A Daughter (something I’ve always been but not something I’ve always thought about)
  • A Granddaughter (Again, something that I’ve always been, and not necessarily the best granddaughter I’ve ever been)
  • A Cousin (I think I do pretty well here as I am always available to my family)
  • A Niece (again, I’ve always been someone’s niece and I think I’ve always done fairly well with that as well, my family is important to me)
  • A Daughter-in-Law (I have been a really bad one and I’ve been a really good one, I think right now, I’m somewhere in between)

And, lastly, I am a teacher.  Period.  Regardless of whom I’m teaching, I feel that deep inside, I was meant to be a teacher.  There are certain venues that bring out the worst in me as a teacher but I know deep down, I have the ability to teach my children right from wrong as well as a little bit about life.  I have the ability to teach my husband about my needs and learn about his.  I have the ability to help my mom by teaching her how to cope with her illness and how to deal with life’s little surprises.  I could go on forever, but you obviously see where I’m going with this.

I am 40.  I am Proud.  And, you can see photos and read more about me by following the links here.
