Looking Forward

by

Home Education WeekIt’s the last day of Home Education Week. I’ve loved reading everyone’s posts this week and getting inspired to write my own. I’ve also added a few new blogs to my feed reader. For the last day Dana asks us all to look forward.

“What are your goals for home education? What do you hope to instill in your children? Are you planning any changes to how you educate your children?”

I’d like to make it a mandate that every home educating parent ask themselves these questions every 3-6 months. And maybe every time things get stressful and they feel like quiting.

I’ve still got a long time of home education ahead of me. I am sure there will be thousands of changes in that time, and my goals may evolve into something else by the time this is all done. But for now my goals are simple. I want to guide my sons into being adults capable of thinking for themselves, passionate about life, in love with learning, and free to follow their own path. Sure there are lots of little things that I hope they learn and understand, but I think that is the basic framework that I want to instill in them.

I’m not planning any major changes yet, but I’m hoping to be more patient and let go more often. If I can accomplish those they will create some dramatic changes around here. *must not stress out when plans fall apart*

Not stressing when plans fall apart is a big one that took me 10 years to even begin to get. Usually we don’t stress here but occasionally, oh my. :)

I don’t think I could homeschool. I’m not that patient and I like my alonetime. xD

LOL I’m hardly the most patient person in the world, I doubt most homeschoolers are. We just work at it a lot.

As to alone time, I absolutely have to have mine everyday. I’m having alone time right now in fact. Every morning and/or night while the kids sleep. I can also get some in the mid afternoon if I plan right.

Plans?!? Was I supposed to make plans?

More patience and “let go” - - excellent goals that I have just added to my list!!
    Thanks for sharing!!
