Home Education Pros and Cons From The Students Themselves

by

Home Education WeekToday for Home Education Week we’re asking our kids what they love about being home. What are their experiences, thoughts, and feeling on home education.

My oldest was only too excited to find out that he was going to be on the blog. Suddenly stars filled his eyes and his ego grew 10 sizes. Unfortunately I can’t figure out my new camera. I took a great video of him talking, but when I try to play it back there is no sound. So while I reread the manual that came with it and try to figure out what I’m doing wrong I’ll share his points in writing.

  • I like homeschooling because I get to rock out. I can listen to music all day and dance when ever I want.
  • I like that my mom teaches me to read, but she still reads to me when I ask.
  • I like that I don’t have to raise my hand to go pee, ’cause sometimes I really need to go.

However, it’s not all happiness around here. He was quick to add the negative points as well.

  • I don’t like that I’m stuck with my baby brother all day. He takes my toys and follows me every where I go.
  • I don’t like it when mom makes me put my toys up. If I wasn’t home all day I wouldn’t have to clean them up.
  • I don’t like that my cousins get stickers and gum every day and I don’t.

So there you have it. A short rundown of the benefits and drawbacks to home education, straight from the horse’s mouth as they say. Of course I’m sure the toddler has a few opinions of his own, like having to share his mommy and not getting the cool toys all to himself.

:) That is so fun. My kids were thrilled to be able to share and my oldest keeps asking if I got comments on it.:)

My kids didn’t complain this time but I know their big complaint is that they don’t get to ride the school bus or have recess. (They have recess ALL DAY.

They were more insightful than my 3 were when I asked them to voice their views, which is posted at the Cafe.
Great post has been an awesome week, and I think we’ve found some new pals along the way.
