Good Morning!

Good morning homeschoolers! Happy Monday to us all! Isn’t it a beautiful day?

What? Am I too perky and happy for a Monday morning? Normally I would agree with you, but today I’m just in too good a mood. The weather is nice, the scale says I’ve lost 3 lbs even after the massive candy consumption, I’ve got oldies playing on the radio, and I just read a great article written by a 13 year old homeschooler. Could my day get any better?

Oh yes, it could.

First I found out that I won a jewelry making kit. I’m super excited and am already planning a couple people’s gifts for Christmas now. Then a book I’ve been waiting for came in the mail and I had the time to sit down and skim through it. And today is daddy’s day off so I may be able to sweet talk him into taking the boys out while I get some work done.

Sure it’s not the most productive homeschool day ever, but we’re all happy, healthy, and fed. And some days that’s all that matters.

ETA: OK, I fixed the book link now! The book is Punished by Rewards: The Trouble With Gold Stars, Incentive Plans, As, Praise, and Other Bribes by Alfie Kohn. He has several other great books worth reading also.

  • The Schools Our Children Deserve: Moving Beyond Traditional Classrooms and “Tougher Standards”
  • The Homework Myth
  • What Does it Mean to Be Well-Educated?: And Other Essays on Standards, Grading, and other Follies
  • The Case Against Standardized Testing: Raising the Scores, Ruining the Schools

I love you and your blog dearly, but if your going to be all happy and sunshiny this morning, I’m gonna need to go and get some caffeine before I continue reading.

I think I’ll check back in an hour and see if I still need my sunglasses to look at the sun. (whimper)

Yes, altogether too perky. (But I am glad you’re happy!) And, hey, Hi-5 on the 3 pounds. However, the link to Amazon which would tell us the title of the book you’ve been waiting for that arrived leads to a 404 Document Not Found page. What’s the title of the book? Enquiring minds want to know! Thanks.

I tried jewelry making and it turns out I’m just not that creative. Of course, that was in a totally different lifetime (seems like it at least) so maybe I ought to give it another go. Good luck with yours!

Okay, now that it’s almost noon, that sun is looking a WHOLE lot better. Glad you woke up happy!
By the way, if you want your three pounds back, let me know.
