Frozen To the Bone

by

playing in snowThere is a pretty nasty winter snow expected to come my way this afternoon. I’m hoping that it doesn’t cut off power, but I’m preparing for the worst anyway. It wasn’t that long ago that another winter storm blew through snapping power lines and knocking down trees. Many people were without electricity for several days. So just in case I’ve got a few posts loaded and scheduled to go up. I wouldn’t want anyone to miss me too much.

We’ve already been out in the cold for a little bit. It was freezing and we did not stay out long. My youngest was especially ready to come back in to the warmth, his little hands were red and frozen. Oldest son was quite upset about coming in. Frozen snot on his face and he was still having a blast. To appease him we crushed some cereal flakes and scattered them outside on the front sidewalk for the birds. I wish I was better at identifying birds. All I know aobut our visiters were that they resembled crows, only much smaller. And they like crushed corn flakes.

For anyone else facing winter weather be safe and stay inside. And if you’ve got a little nature lover worrid about the birds in your yard too here’s a great post on making a bird feeder from a soda bottle. It’s a great way to help some poor winged creatures make it through the cold.
