Alabama Public Television
I know I spend a lot of time around here bashing these poor educators in my son’s school district. Let me say it now, the whole state of Alabama is not in the funk that we seem to be in here. With that, I want to introduce you to a service offered by Alabama Public Television to help teachers, homeschoolers and parents.
Those of you who homeschool may already be familiar with APTPLUS, our free online educational resource that provides thousands of multi-media assets that can help stimulate the learning of children all the way through high school.
I’m guessing that you are familiar with the "fun" of helping your children with their homework or answering questions like "why are penguins black on one side and white on the other?". My daughter is 14–going on 21–and comes up with some real doozies. Of course I always want to know the answer so she will think I’m a genius!
APTPLUS is as easy to access as Twitter. All you need is a username and password, which any teacher or parent can get at no cost from APT. (Just visit www.aptplus.org.)
Educators and many home-schoolers in the state are already familiar with this as 76% of the teachers in 90% Alabama public schools are registered for this service, which helps them engage the kids in their classes.
I invite you to visit www.aptplus.org and register for an account if you don’t already have one. Then try it out. See how many videos, articles, etc. that you get to help your children or satisfy your own questions. We have just started offering this service to parents and ask your help in getting the word out about this great service by writing about it in your blog. We want all Alabama parents to know about this free service. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
