A Is For Apple…
I was asked to share some of what we do at my house so I thought I would share a short review of our first week homeschooling this year. It was fun and got us into a groove that we all could enjoy.
Monday: After breakfast we read our story of the week, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, followed by lots of playing. In the afternoon we got on the laptop and learned some new signs for apple, tree, and give. Then we headed off to gymnastics.
Tuesday: That morning on we took a walk and collected leaves, pieces of tree bark, and some acorns we found on the ground. Before lunch we pulled out contruction paper, glue, and crayons and made a tree book. That afternoon we had our playgroup at the library.
Wednesday: After coming in from playing my oldest did a few workbook pages on the number 1 while I made lunch and got the youngest down for a nap. That afternoon we got out the paint and did some wet on wet painting with red.
Thursday: Thursday is our down day. He did some coloring in the morning and played with puzzles. That afternoon he asked for paper and a pen and sat on the table trying to write. Sure it looked like cribbles and lines, but it’s the thought that counts.
Friday: Friday morning we read our book and talked about what we thought about it. He declared that the boy wasn’t very nice to keep taking from the tree like he did. That afternoon I turned on the stereo and we danced around the house until we were all ready for a nap.
Of course there were other things in there as well. We bought a bag of apples to have for snacks, pointed out all the things in our homes made from trees, and on Wednesday night had a discussion comparing taking toys from our little brother and taking everything from the tree in our book. We also have a wall chart where every morning we mark what day it is and track the weather.
So there it is, our first week’s schedule. In shortened form.

So i am going to come live with you, okay? And you make lesson plans and teach me, so I can finish the master’s degree that I gave up on? Do you teach 25 y/o students?
